VALENCIAN CHOCOLATE
The smell of roasted cocoa reaches every corner of this chocolate factory and welcomes you to one of the oldest chocolate factories in Spain. This aroma given off by the roasting of the cocoa bean is one of the differentiating factors of this factory, since there are very few companies in the world making it, which is defined as the "bean to bar" (from bean to bar). In this factory the entire production process is controlled.
In 1998 Chocolates Valor went a step further in the dissemination and research of its product and created the Chocolate Museum. A museum that in 2008, after ten years of life, was recognized by the Generalitat Valenciana as the Valencian Museum of Chocolate and in 2016 received the International 'CICOP' award for the conservation of Industrial Heritage. It is located in the former small family factory, next to the current and modern facilities, and has been expanding its space to make the visitors feel new experiences.
This museum has one of the best collections of chocolate industry machinery from different periods, from when cocoa was ground on stone to the present day. It also allows us to learn about the chocolate production process and how it has evolved since 1881, when Valeriano López started his career in the chocolate industry. It also reviews the growth of the Valor brand, the changes in the packaging of its products, the different brands of the company ..... In essence, an exhibition where we will find out everything related to this internationally renowned company, which has been growing hand in hand with the five generations of master chocolatiers who have directed it.
Also, cocoa, as the main ingredient of chocolate, has its own space in this museum and is the protagonist of its latest expansion. A modern room where we discover the origins of cocoa, its cultivation and mythology. In this space Chocolates Valor allows us to enjoy a very special sensory experience impossible to describe otherwise.
The experience ends with a tour of the modern factory of Chocolates Valor and a tasting in the store. Every year about one hundred thousand people visit this museum that has become one of the most dynamic elements in terms of promotion of La Vila Joiosa.
