The sea in La Vila Joiosa had always been synonymous of sacrifice, work, absences... However, fortunately, decades ago the circumstances changed and La Vila Joiosa found pleasure, fun and entertainment in the sea.
Water sports: sailing, rowing, kayaking ... were the first to show the 'friendly' side of the Mediterranean, but after them new experiences came up. One of them is Fishing Tourism, a proposal to know more about the world of professional fishing. La Vila Joiosa has a fishing fleet of 38 boats that go out every day to fish, and return in the afternoon with the refrigerators full of fish and seafood ready to be traded at the fish market.
Fishing Tourism allows us to share the daily life of the fishermen. Experiencing the daily ritual that takes place in the port of La Vila Joiosa: the arrival of the boats, the unloading of the fish, the trade at the fish market ... it is an experience full of tradition and authenticity. Going out to sail in the boat and see how these professionals work at sea, enjoy the fish unloading and trade on land, learn about the fishing origin of the village, the fishing techniques and nets, and of course the chance to taste and savor the best fish and seafood of the Mediterranean, are some of the proposals.
